For Laura, our founder and creative director, it all started with a thank-you note... or rather, hundreds of them.  The importance of written correspondence was instilled by her mother from the beginning.  She would diligently write and rewrite each note until they were perfect... the perfect hand-written font, the perfect layout, the perfect message.  Today, this sticks with her as she strives to insert these basic elements of font, layout and meaningful message into her designs with fresh new twists and refined illustration.  For more about Laura, you can follow her on our BLOG, INSTAGRAM and PINTEREST.

As a third generation artist, I am fortunate to carry on a passion that has been in my family for decades. Having a father who was a photographer and a mother who was a teacher, I knew from an early age that art would always be a part of my life. After graduating college in 2007, I went into business as a wedding photographer with my father, while also teaching art in Chicago public schools.

What an experience wedding photography has been! Working with my father has taught me to love what I do. With his 30 plus years of photography experience, he has trained and guided me to this point in my profession. I am thrilled that my teaching and photography experience has led me to open my own family and baby photography business.

My goal in working with my clients is to skillfully capture expressions and moments in a baby’s face or in a family’s interactions. It is important to make you feel comfortable and relaxed during our session so that those moments feel natural. I use lighting, posing, and framing to suit the environment we are working in.

Photographing in homes and on locations creates an exciting challenge to make each environment my studio. I enjoy the balance of planning for photo sessions, while still having to use my creative and technical skills for situations out of my control. That’s when the best moments happen!

From newborns to adults, I love meeting new families, working in new spaces, and creating art. I look forward to getting to know you and your family!
