all about live painting

💌 Booking & Pricing

Pricing starts at $2,200 for an evening of live painting.

Once you've decided to move forward with live painting at your event (and you won't be sorry), I require a 50% non-refundable deposit and a signed contract to hold your date. The remaining balance is due one week prior to your event.

Yes! If you book an 18" × 24" live portrait painting for your wedding day, I offer a discounted rate of $250/hour (minimum of three hours) for live guest portrait painting during your rehearsal dinner or going-away brunch. This way, you get the best of both worlds... special gifts for YOU and YOUR GUESTS.

I also offer discounted rates for nonprofit and fundraising events. Please inquire for additional information.

✈️ Travel & Logistics

Yes! A travel fee is added to any radius outside 30 miles of Quincy, Illinois. For anywhere within a 180-mile radius, I simply charge the standard government mileage rate of $0.76 per mile, plus any parking expenses incurred. Anywhere beyond this will incur additional hotel and/or flight expenses and can be quoted upon request.

On the day of your event, I need access to the space where I will be painting at least one hour in advance, as well as any special parking information, the event planner and/or day-of planner's contact information, and any specific instructions on where to set up. I will show up, unload, change into some fancy shoes, and then get started! If you are having me paint a scene from the wedding day in an earlier location (for example, the ceremony), I will need information on when and where to be to take reference photos.

If I am painting outside in the bright sun, I need some sort of shade: an umbrella, a pergola, a tree, etc. Otherwise, the light can be blinding! If I am painting guest portraits, I will need long tables (quantities TBD) or some sort of display area where paintings go when they are completed. If I must fly to an event, I will need a small table (3' × 3' or 4' × 4') and chair to use in place of my easel. I do ask that tables provided also have a tablecloth to keep everything looking sleek. I handle the rest!

🖌️ The Creative Process

The length of live painting depends on which service you are interested in. However, most evenings of live painting (the 18" × 24" original watercolor paintings) take approximately four hours to complete. For a wedding, I generally start during cocktail hour and paint through the reception, right up until the photographer, videographer, and/or social media crew end, so that they can capture the reveal! The timing of guest portrait paintings and all other services is discussed on an individual basis. Art classes are three hours long.

My standard size is 18" × 24" watercolor on paper, but based on your goals, I am happy to paint in other sizes. Reach out and we'll discuss what you have in mind.

Absolutely! Have a creative idea? I'd love to collaborate and bring your unique ideas to life! In the past, I have painted on hats, jackets, furniture, and more. Reach out and we'll discuss what you have in mind.

Unless you've made a special request, your live painting (both large pieces and small pieces) will be completed by the end of the event. If it makes sense with the timeline, I try to have the large pieces done prior to your photographer, videographer, and/or social media crew's departure so they are able to capture your sweet reveal moment!

Yes! Please note that I only offer the highest-quality archival framing services, so custom framing for an 18" × 24" piece starts around $1,000. This would be done after the event in my own studio and would incur additional shipping fees. While it is not necessary to spend this much to frame your piece (there are several affordable options online and at your local craft stores), my archival framing services ensure that your piece will be protected from fading for years to come. Several framing and matting options are available—from sleek and modern to traditional and vintage. Please reach out with additional questions regarding this service, and I'd be thrilled to provide a custom quote.

Absolutely! Pricing starts at $35 per print and $99 for 20 notecards and envelopes.

💍 Weddings

For weddings, commonly requested scenes are couples at the altar, couples walking down the aisle, or a more formal portrait. I prefer to avoid cake cutting and first dance scenes, as my end time is the same as your photographer and videographer. This allows them to capture the reveal prior to their departure. If you're dead set on one of these scenes, it can be done—we just have to work together on the timeline. Please be sure to let me know all the important details you'd like included in your painting... I want it to be SO extra special!

YES! I love when guests watch! Put me in the center of the room or close to the bar. Children and conversations are no distraction—rather, part of the fun! I only ask that I am not bumped.

Like any event, a good rain plan is essential. I can adapt with your needs!

Absolutely. I just need to know where you want me placed at each location and what time you want me to move. I'll handle the rest!

👩🏻‍🎨 Guest Portraits

When I work alone, I can paint 15 people (MAX) an hour. When I have fewer people to paint, the paintings are slower and more detailed. When I have more people to paint, the paintings are quicker and more abstract.

Yes. I have a team that I can bring to help paint for large groups. Please reach out with your target number of guests to be painted and the maximum amount of time we would have to work, and I will be thrilled to send a customized quote. Please note, for parties over 100 guests, the investment starts at $3,000.
