Live guest portraits are perfect for intimate gatherings, showers, welcome parties, rehearsal dinners, the morning of a wedding and other small, special occasions!
Bridal clients often add this service on when they are hiring me as a painter for their wedding. And clients always report that their guests don't stop raving about their take-away paintings for weeks afterwards!
It's simple... I'll paint your guests! Upon arriving, guests are asked to immediately visit my station for their Polaroid to be taken. I use these photos to paint abstract portraits of your guests. I can paint 6-15 people per hour (15 is MAX, MAX, MAX!). The people can be configured as individuals or groups. I make the disclaimer that if I have less people and more time, the portraits will be more detailed. If I have more people and less time, the portraits will be more abstract. I do not paint eyes and my primary goal is to capture the essence of people, rather than a detailed portrait.
I create the portraits in an assembly line fashion- first I sketch the people, and then I start adding similar paint colors at the same time (for example, I paint all the skin tones at once) and then I keep building from there. At the end of the night, guests will have an original 5" x 7" painting to take home with them as a memento of the most special celebration!
Once booked, I will work closely with you or your event planner to understand the event type, theme, color palette, space of the event so that I can show up prepared! I require a long table for paintings to dry on and approximately 4' x 4' area of space (for my easel or small table)- I enjoy being in the middle of an event for guests to fully enjoy the experience, but I do need just a bit of buffer so that I am not bumped. If I am able to drive to your event, I will bring my easel. If I must fly to your event, I ask that a table is provided. I will need a chair and access to water, as well as an extension cord. If I will be working outside during full sun, I ask that an umbrella is provided (as sometimes the white paper is blinding in the bright sun!)
On the day of your event, I need access to the space where I will be painting at least an hour before the painting is to begin and will need to know where you want me positioned. I ask for both venue/s and planner/contact information upon signing the contract. If this information changes at any point, I kindly ask to be updated.
A travel fee will be added to any event outside of Quincy, Illinois.
Please contact us for pricing and availability. Dates will only be held once a 50% non-refundable deposit has been made and a contract has been signed. Remaining balance is due one week prior to your event.
